ORIGINAL EARTH PIGMENT WATERCOLOUR ON LINEN

18cm x 12.5cm approx.
(7” x 5” approx.)
Natural linen on mountboard
2025

This painting was made using hand-ground pigments collected from Meon, Hampshire and Oregon, USA. It features white chalk and iron oxide, all foraged and transformed into natural watercolour in my studio.

About the Artwork
This piece is one of 100 original miniatures created for 100 Wild Earths, a collection made entirely with hand-gathered earth pigments. Each work represents a small, quiet moment inspired by long grasses, moving shadows, shifting skies, and nature's gentle, quiet rhythm.

Turn the piece over and you’ll find a handwritten note of the specific pigment and its origin—an invitation to share in the journey behind it.

Collection Inspiration
100 Wild Earths is a celebration of the land and its stories. Each pigment holds a personal memory of where it was found, the light that day, and the feeling of being grounded and present in nature.

This collection invites you to connect your own story with the Earth through art. These are not just paintings, but small, honest fragments of the wild—recorded in colour, emotion and place.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • These ppaintings are mounted on white mountboard and designed to be displayed with your choice of framing. They are not ready to hang but will fit beautifully into standard box or float frames. If you’d like framing advice, feel free to get in touch.

  • Earth pigments are natural colours sourced directly from the land—clays, chalks, soils, stones, and minerals. I collect these materials on my walks in nature, then carefully grind and bind them by hand into watercolour paint. Each colour tells a story of place and presence.

  • Each piece is painted using artist-grade binder and sealed with a UV-protective fixative. Like any artwork, to ensure longevity, keep it out of direct sunlight and handle it with care.

  • Yes! Every painting comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a handwritten pigment note on the reverse of the artwork, telling you exactly where the pigment came from.

  • I ship worldwide using tracked courier delivery. Paintings are wrapped carefully in plastic-free, eco-friendly packaging.

  • Yes, you’re very welcome to collect your artwork directly from my studio in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Just let me know at checkout or send an email to arrange.

  • Yes—each of the 100 paintings is completely one-of-a-kind and will never be repeated. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
